Datacentrix is currently lookingto employ a Data Center Administrator on a permanent basis to be based in Midrand to be responsiblefor equipment maintenance tasks such as managing and installing custom upgrades for customers,replacing cables, components and accessories, maintaining records and drawing schematics of thecenter to detail what equipment is installedTake responsibility for the ongoing support, maintenance, performance and uptime ofcorporate data center facilities. Escort or ensure safety compliance of customers, contract staff,vendors and carriers that require access to data center facilities. Administrative duties mightinclude scheduling employee shifts, planning for capacity changes, maintaining corporate databasesand ensuring compliance with the companys regulations
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
 
 
 
Functional Support

Manage physical access todata center facilities and racks.
Manage external support agreements and liaise withvendors.
Provide and maintain data cabling and associated documentation within the datacenter.
Design rack layouts and maintain relevant documentation.
Provide accessand support to operational infrastructure staff.
Actively contribute to processesassociated with the data center.
Manage on-call rosters and/or shift work resources asrequired.
Ensure Data Center infrastructure integrity, performance, capacity planning, andservice continuity.
Manage DC infrastructure documentation and procedures for improvements,updates, and regular maintenance.
Monitoring of ALL Generators , Cooling systems , Powersystems and UPS’s
Ensure all Generators , Cooling systems , Power systems andUPS’s has maintenance contracts in place and is done every month
Ensure Daily checksis done on the health of the  Generators , Cooling systems , Power systems and UPS’s
Ensure Datacentre is up 99.99999 per year
IT cable management.
Set up SLAs andmanage them including liabilities, KPIs etc.
Manage physical security taking into accountrequirements of standards
Manage safety and statutory requirements.
Effectivelyand efficiently, manage data centre operations.
Manage the day-to-day data centreoperations. Manage documents.
Set up equipment lifecycle including testing.
Definedata centre design limits, and set up and manage a proper capacity management plan.
Commission and de-commission equipment.

 
Manage Human Resources

Provide fire centre safety training for staff and visitors.

 
Evaluate and improve

Manage vendorsand measure their performance.

 
 
 
RELEVANT QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Datacenter Certification

4 - 6 years experience
