Role details:
Responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of complex database environments, quality control, auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data, will partner with management to develop database strategies to support company needs.

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions:Maintaining and documenting IIT SQL Server standards
Install new SQL servers/instances according to IIT Standards and adherence to change control process
Create a monthly SQL server and database patch/upgrades/service and monitor SQL Servers maintenance jobs (Backups, Log Backups, Indexing, etc.)
Secure SQL Servers through proper user access management in accordance with IIT governance and compliance standards
SQL Server disk space monitoring and clean-up.
Create and maintain all Azure SQL database, VM SQL instances, SQL Sync, Data factory and Synapse, etc.
Perform SQL Server Backups and correct all consistency check errors
Install service packs and hot fixes and monitor release of and install security patches
Monitor operating system and hardware as and when required and give
Request and implement management tools and utilities.
Document SQL Server Procedures and updates
Installation of SQL Server software. Install and commission SQL Server on request from Applications or System Services, this includes
Participates in the design and creation of complex databases.
Consults with and advises users on access to various databases.
Works directly with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage.
Direct the maintenance and use of the corporate data dictionary. Establishes physical database parameters.
Code database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database-to-database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions.

Qualifications:
Grade 12
NQF 6 or above 3 year qualification
