Established brand seeks Risk & Sustainability Manager. Our client is a global leader whose name has become synonymous with innovation and positioned them as a leading industry voice. This necessitates a stringent focus on risk, compliance and sustainability. As such they are looking for a Risk & Sustainability Manager to focus on the identification and elimination of any risks that may result in property loss, injury, or legal liability. The purpose is to safeguard the company and the interests of stakeholders by identifying, assessing and managing all threats to the achievement of its business objectives. You will work to identify and lessen threats, produce and implement strategies and plans to avoid future risks and contingency plans if things go wrong, deciding how to avoid, reduce or transfer risks. You will also lead the development and execution of a broad-based, company-wide strategic sustainability initiative, integrating business objectives with corporate social and environmental responsibility whilst ensuring that the company’s sustainability effort enhances business performance and supports the long-term interests of the company.

Key risk responsibilities will include implementing and overall risk management process including the development and implementation of a risk management policy; conducting regular risk assessments; risk reporting; managing insurance, and implementing health and safety measures and business continuity plans to limit risks; conducting audits of policy and compliance to standards; building risk awareness in the organisation; participating and reporting on Disaster Recovery Plans; and working closely with the Legal Manager to manage litigation. It will also fall to you to oversee the implementation and management of the Quality Management System (QMS) and achievement and retention of ISO certification as well as monthly reporting to EXCO on the status of QMS and risks associated to it. Sustainability responsibilities will involve creating a sustainability vision for the company and leading the development of a high-level strategy to support it. This will include developing the business case; collaborating with stakeholders to develop a sustainability plan; leading, overseeing and defining the scope of an internal Sustainability Steering Committee; serving as the internal expert for sustainability, monitoring emerging trends, programs and issues; fostering a culture of sustainability; identifying and prioritising areas for institutional sustainability efforts and recommending strategies to proactively address these; providing leadership-level support for initiatives to reduce company-wide resource consumption and waste generation; serving as the company spokesperson on sustainability issues to facilitate visibility and internal and external communications; assessing the organization’s current sustainability performance; formulating defined action plans to support sustainability strategies; ensuring appropriate internal controls and measurement systems are in place; and measuring and monitor progress against sustainability strategies, objectives and performance targets. You will also be responsible for Health & Safety as the National H&S Committee Chairperson this will involve monitoring H&S practices; raising awareness on H&S issues; consolidating data and compiling the monthly H&S Report for EXCO; and performing all required duties of a Covid Compliance manager for the division.

The role will call on your business & financial acumen; exceptional administrative abilities; excellent communication (written, spoken & presentation) and interpersonal skills; attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritise; as well as your negotiation and conflict management aptitude. You will be required to continuously monitor and research emerging trends and practices, so a good research ability is essential. Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills are needed to identify potential risks and come up with appropriate responses. We are looking for an inspirational leader who is able to manage diverse individuals.

To apply you will need a relevant Degree and a minimum of 5 years’ hands on experience in audit, insurance or claims department, or have experience working in risk departments with a track record of managing risk. You will need to be proficient in Excel with the ability to analyse complex spreadsheets and have solid experience across MS Office tools. Your experience should be supported by extensive knowledge with regards to Risk and Sustainability in general and comprehensive industry legislative compliance knowledge.
