To identify, control and audit the information required to manage IT services by defining and maintaining a database of controlled items, their status, lifecycles and relationships, and any information needed to manage the quality of IT services and cost effectively

Core Functional Knowledge/ Skills

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions
• Define Configuration Management policies, processes, procedures and standards
• Successfully develop and maintain the Configuration Management process in alignment with BCX’s standards
• Manage and review the efficiency and effectiveness of the Configuration Management process in order to ensure the alignment to BCX’s standards
• Produce management information in alignment with BCX’s policies and procedures
• Provide effective reporting for the ITIL discipline (Configuration Management) in BCX and clients to maintain and improve the processes implemented
• Create and manage the Configuration Management plan, principles and processes and their implementation, which includes CI registration procedures; access controls and privileges
• Ensure that the correct roles and responsibilities of relevant parties are defined in the Configuration Management plans and procedures
• Propose and agree with, Configuration Items (CI’s) to be uniquely identified with naming conventions
• Ensure that all staff comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, life-cycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates
• Perform new client take-on; Plan, publicize and oversee the implementation of new Configuration Management systems and procedures

Qualifications
• Relevant Diploma (NQF 6) in information technology or Computer Science or similar.
• Alternatively, Grade 12 (NQF 4) with IT certification

Experience (length and type of experience)
• 3 -5 years Configuration Management experience, of which at least 1 year doing client take-ons
• Broad technical exposure & knowledge of Enterprise IT across SAP, Linux and Wintel systems (virtualized server environments and complex, leveraged networks)

Certification/ Professional Registration
• ITIL V3 Foundation +; Minimum
• Prefer ITIL V3 Practitioner: Service Transition
• ITIL Expert an Advantage
