The AWS Support Technology Platform (Kumo) Development Team develops applications used by our global list of customers and internal AWS teams. The team is a self-standing P&L with the ability to drive both Free Cash Flow and world class customer experience.

The Kumo Development Team is looking for a software development engineer to drive improvements around the following key areas; our public facing AWS Support Web Service, Automated Proactive Remediation and Data Analytics.

Work in our platform will provide the opportunity to contribute to the complete vertical stack of an SOA based system, which is horizontally connected to most systems in the larger Amazon ecosystem. Areas include business intelligence, web service implementation, database design, web based applications, UI design and usability and accessibility optimization.

Developers in this position will use a variety of mainstream and open source technologies like Java, C++, Linux, Perl, Javascript, MySQL, as well as in-house Amazon Cloud technologies

Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or other quantitative field
· The technical skills required for this role include strong object-oriented design and programming in Java or C++.
· Understanding and experience with web based technologies is essential. These may include HTML, HTTP, Javascript, JSON, AJAX, Apache, Tomcat, Ruby on Rails.
· Experience working pragmatically under deadlines with operational software is highly desired.
· Project management experience

Preferred Qualifications
· Mastery of SQL skills (MySQL or Oracle) is a plus
· Data modeling is a plus
