Role details:
Risk Manager required for market leaders in the South African property industry. Our client provides a range of commercial property skills in the South African and sub-Saharan African markets. They strive to be market leaders in the industry by applying core values such as professionalism, integrity, staff excellence, innovation and equity. They recognise that the success of the company depends on its people, its reputation and capital. As such they understand the importance of risk and compliance as a key business driver and are currently looking for someone to take responsibility for this. They are looking to appoint a Risk Manager, reporting directly to the Financial Director, who will be responsible for risk and compliance and specialised reporting. The incumbent will assume overall accountability for the implementation of all aspects of the risk function, including implementation of risk management processes and tools to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor and report risks on a regular basis. It will also fall to you to ensure compliance to all relevant statutory requirements and the impact on the company and provide guidance and expert interpretation of National Acts, Statutes and Regulations including Industry specific regulations. You will need to ensure that the company complies with the necessary compliance requirements from the majority shareholder and ensure that the company remains compliant and up to date with legislated changes and industry specific changes to the compliance requirements applicable to the Property Industry. You will report on compliance matters to the EXCO, Audit Committee and holding company as required and fulfil specific company reporting obligations to shareholders and regulatory bodies as and when required. The successful candidate should have a B.Com / CA(SA) with at least 5 years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. The role will suit someone with strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
