Who are we?

Sanlam Group Technology and Information (GTI) is responsible for Group-wide Technology and Information Governance, Technology Architecture oversight and guidance as well as the Group’s Cyber Security oversight and governance. GTI is also responsible for IT Shared services to businesses in the Group which is provided through three units namely Infrastructure-, Application- and Security shared services. The shared service business model is based on commercial principles and the foundation of the model is a constant drive for consolidation, standardisation, automation and optimisation. As such, GTI has accountability for the design and implementation of agreed IT controls, governance frameworks, policies, standards and solutions to ensure business continuity and minimise information security risks.

What will you do?

As a BI Systems Architect, you will be responsible for the design, validation, and implementation of technology configurations of the Sanlam Group Business Intelligence (GBI) platform, under the guidance of the BI Domain / Principle Architect. You will also be responsible for the development of a systems architecture that describes the complete set of components and interfaces that make up BI application solutions to specified business requirements in a large, complex organisation. The specification, product selection and design of infrastructure components to implement a systems architecture. As well as the identification of new and emerging software technologies, methodologies and products and the ongoing assessment of their relevance and potential value to the organisation

What will make you successful in this role?

The following are the key outcomes expected from this position:

- The planning, designing and building of the IT infrastructure and technology architecture to support the GBI platform. This includes computer hardware, server hardware, storage and backup, operating systems, utilities software and data storage / management software as well as integration between the components of the platform.
- The specification, product selection and design of the components to implement this technology architecture.
- Applying development management technologies and methodologies, such as Application Life Cycle Management (ALM) e.g. Agile, Waterfall or other patterns, practices, and development frameworks.
- Utilising a combination of relevant Architecture Models such as Technology, Data, Access, Identity, Security Management Models and Change Management Models.
- You will be responsible to translate the conceptual and logical GBI Platform architecture into a technology architecture that can be implemented in the context of the Sanlam Group IT environment.
- You are responsible for the design and validation of all required integration points of the GBI technology components to the rest of the Sanlam technology landscape – using internal, vendor and external expertise where required.
- Provide recommendations to the GBI and GTI leadership teams on efficiency improvements to the GBI platform. Engage with all stakeholders in the Sanlam Group in a technical level to make sure we achieve synergies in terms of tools, technology, patterns and solutions used.
- Consult with technical stakeholders to ensure the GBI platform remains viable for their current and future technical requirements.

Qualification & Experience

Qualifications:
- Degree/diploma/certificate in Information Technology related discipline
- Matric

Experience:
- 4+ years related experience.
- Experience with SAP HANA, Cloudera / Hadoop, Teradata and Informatica Governance tools advantageous.
