Business Applications Developer sought to join privately owned, biotechnology leader located in over 45 countries across 5 continents. Our client is a global company with a family business ethos that relies on the expertise of its employees to thrive. They take great care to maintain a strong, enriching organizational culture. Their global footprint and cutting-edge business operations necessitates complex Business Application Systems which have been internally developed using Synergex’s product suite and are operational in all countries across the globe. They are currently looking for an individual, based in South Africa to work remotely, who will form part of the team responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining business applications. You will collaborate with internal teams to understand the solution architecture, the business and functional requirements to write clean and scalable code, as well as provide technical support and required technical documentation thus maintaining a stable environment for users globally whilst developing new features and optimize existing systems. Responsibilities include actively engaging in the analysis, development, and enhancement of work processes using Synergy DBL; writing, testing, debugging, and fixing errors in code; documenting code throughout the SDLC; ensuring solution quality through adherence to development and quality assurance best practices; performing detailed system design using common components and Synergy DBL framework; investigating root causes to improve performance and stability; providing support to users and fellow developers on all servers; documenting system changes within the Synergy framework: and crafting technical requirements aligned with business needs. To apply you should have a degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering coupled with at least three years of experience as a developer which should include experience in Synergy DBL (ISAM files) or similar programming language (such as Cobol); Azure DevOps (Git, Pipleline, release); .Net framework, ASP.Net and web services; and experience with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). It would be a benefit if you have a good knowledge of T-SQL (Stored Procedure); Linux or Unix; relational databases; and Crystal Reports as well as a good working knowledge of financial, distribution, manufacturing and supply chain systems. The role will suit someone with the willingness to learn and master a new language and development environment. It will call on your ability to multi-task and switch between projects, ability to troubleshoot and solve problems, and your sense of initiative, resourcefulness, and autonomy. You should have a great team spirit and be self-motivated and have the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies. Excellent English verbal and written communication skills essential. Fluent in French a definite advantage. Since the role is remote you are required to have stable internet connectivity and backup for loadshedding.
