Role details:
• The Project Coordinator is an integral member of the Planning & Implementation section responsible for ensuring effective coordination of Pieces of Work of varying size and complexity.
• The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities during the planning and implementation phases, ensuring proper handover between individual functions.
• The Project Coordinator works within a matrix organization, engaging on a daily basis with the Planning and Implementation section as well as with Project Managers, but reporting to line management within the Telecoms Programme Management Office (TPMO).

Key Accountabilities

TECHNICAL SUPPORT
• Coordination of activities pertaining to a specific Piece of Work, overseeing the smooth transition from one functional area to the next
• Documentation of key milestones and ensuring completeness and accuracy of records for compilation and submission to Project Management
• Provides support to the team for tracking and managing change controls
• Provides support to Planning and Implementation supervisors in monitoring projects plans and work hours

MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL
• Managing and coordinating the various schedules of the Planning & Implementation individual functional areas

STAKEHOLDER LIAISON
• Liaise with other Telecoms business units as well as and other City units regarding Piece of Work coordination
• Provide effective and accurate Piece of Work information to Project Management to ensure process integration.

Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of the technical aspects of a coordinating planning and implementation activities in a telco environment, specifically in the wireless and optic fibre technology arenas.
• Knowledge of a Telecoms record system.
• Knowledge of site handover documentation and site technical documentation.
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
• Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
• Strong multi-tasking and organisational skills

Qualifications or Experience
• NQF 5 /6;
• 7 Years’ experience in a coordination role, in a telco commercial environment, municipal government experience highly desirable
• Communication skills (both written & spoken).
• MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Access).
• Use of Excel formulae and lookups
