Certifications:
DELL and EMCEnterprise hardware engineer
MCSE, SLES (OES), Novelland VMware or similar
1) IS1 - Software Support
Support shall include operating system, system software support as per theagreed list of supported software and server applications
Create, review, implement and maintain a list ofsupported software and server applications in conjunction with Company
Performday-to-day tasks (housekeeping of keeping enterprise systems running – specifically hardware)
Perform day-to-day operations, maintenance and support of the enterprise systems
Management and installation of new business software approved byCompany
Software support including all mainstream Operating Systems, Anti Virusand other products that may be purchased by Company from time to time
Communicate changes to and updates of the various systems to the Company userpopulation.
2) IS2 – Server Hardware Support
Field support , including problemresolution on server hardware.
Create, review, implement and maintain a list of supported hardware and serverapplications in conjunction with COMPANY
Support on server hardware andperipherals
Troubleshooting and resolution of incidents pertaining to the serverenvironment
Liaise with OEM suppliers of server hardware for warranty claims,repairs and replacements and provide quotations for Server Hardware that is not underwarranty.
Have an early warning system in place to let the COMPANY knowabout systems going out of warrantee
Manage critical on site spares whereapplicable
Report any server related incidents to the COMPANY CallCentre
Maintain Failover hardware for critical hardware components as agreedwith COMPANY
3) IS3 – Problem Management
Identification of the underlying cause andidentification of permanent fix
Perform root cause analysis to determine probable cause, expedite problemresolution and use Problem Management information proactively to assist in the recognition andprevention or resolution of recurring problems
Use reasonable efforts toprovide circumvention/avoidance of problems (alternate resources, restart, bypass, impact, etc.),and verify resolution
Provide support and assistance, as required, toisolate complex Server, operational or Software problems.
4) IS4 – ServerMonitoring
Describes the service requirements for Server Monitoring based on tools available atCOMPANY
Real timeMonitoring of identified servers networks and applications
Escalate loggedoutages and performance related incidents / events from technical support to second line support tomanagement.
Communicate advance notice of planned changes in the environment thatwill impact on the current Server capacity.
5) IS5 – PerformanceManagement
Management of server performance in order to provide the required performance for dataprocessing as required
Notify COMPANY when any Server approaches critical hardware utilisationlevels and that additional capacity is required to perform the Services in accordance with theService levels as defined in the build process
6) IS6 – Server ConfigurationManagement
Manage and maintain and maintain a conformation database of all configurationitem
Establish andmaintain a server equipment register
Update Information for all servers andassociated services e.g. Mail, exchange, Configuration etc., in the central repository.
7) IS7 – Server Availability Management
Support and administer server and storagesystems
Ensure that theCOMPANY storage and server (VMware and Physical) environments are available in line with businessrequirements
Perform the necessary control checks required as part of general goodpractice and prescribed in the of good practices for information security as well as applicablelegislative and governing principles.
